Tasmajdan Park – Beautiful park in the center of Belgrade

Tasmajdan Park – Tasmajdan Park is near center of Belgrade, Palilula municipality, only 600m away from Terazije. In its near proximity is the famous St. Marks’ Chursh, and is surrounded by several streets: Takovska, Ilije Garasanina, Beogradska and King Alexander’s Boulevard.

It was built in 1950. On that place used to be a guarry which gave stone for most of the buildings built in the Old Belgrade. And that is exactly how Tasmajdan got its name – from Turkish words tas (stone) and majdan (place where you extract stone).

Even Romans used the stone from this location more than two milleniums ago. Belgrade parks – In Tasmajdan Park are monuments to great Serbian people: Desanka Maksimovic and Milorad Pavic, who loved to spend time in this park.
