Congressional center Belgrade Sava Center – the largest congress and business center of Serbia

Congressional center Belgrade – Sava Center is the largest object for congressional, cultural and business events in Serbia and one of the largest of this kind in the region. Construction of Sava Center began in 1976 in New Belgrade – the largest construction site then in Belgrade.

It lasted for three years and main architect was Stojan Maksimovic. First phase of construction was speeded up in 1977 because Belgrade hosted the conference on Safety and cooperation i Europe. Next year in Belgrade was held 11th Congress of Communists of Yugoslavia, and another congressional room was completed.

Congressional Center Belgrade – In 1979 next to Sava Center was constructed the hotel “Beograd Inter Continental”. On Sava Center’s 30th anniversary (2007) was completed the reconstruction of the glass façade.

Congressional Center BelgradeSava Center has 70.000 m² usable space out of total 100.000 m² of its surface, including a large hall capacity of 4.000 seats and 15 conference halls, exhibition space, as well as many other areas. Sava Center is connected to the hotel Crown Plaza (ex InterContinental) with an underground passage.

In many years of its existence it hosted many congresses:  General Assembly of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the General Assembly UNESCO, 9th Summit of the Non-Aligned countries, as well as numerous congresses of professional organizations.

Congressional Center Belgrade – hosted many world stars like Placido Domingo, Ray Charles, Julio Iglesias, Lou Reed, Sting, Nina Simone and many others.
