All about Belgrade – One of the greatest world scientist of all times, Nikola Tesla, a man with Serbian origins, indebted the Serbian people which honoured him with a museum.

Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljane, July 10, 1856 is one of the most famous Serbian and world’s inventors in the field of physics and electrotechnics of all times. The most important Tesla’s inventions are polyphase system, rotating magnetic field, induction motor, synchronous motor and the famous Tesla coil.

Also, he found a way to generate high-frequency currents and made a significant contribution in the transmission and modulation of the radio signal. His system of alternating currents has provided much easier and more efficient transmission of electricity over long distances.

He was the head man of the project of construction of the first hydroelectric power station at Niagara Falls where he received a magnificent monument. The first Serb ever to be nominated for the Nobel prize, which he turned down in 1937. He died on Christmass, January 7, 1943 in his apartment in New York, age 87.

Nikola Tesla is the only Serb to have an international metric unit named after, unit of measurement for magnetic flux density – tesla. Tesla is author of more than 650 patents, registered in over 26 countries, pf which 113 electrotechnical.

Museum is very near city, in a villa from 1929, and is a unique institution of science, culture and revolutionary achievements in Serbia, whose importance goes across the state borders. It is the only museum that owns an original personal legacy of our famous scientist.
