Architecture in Belgrade – Visit one of the tallest buildings

Architecture in Belgrade – One of the tallest buildings in Belgrade – Beogradjanka or Palace “Belgrade” has 101 meters in height and 24 floors. It is on the corner of Kralja Milana, Resavska and Masarikova Streets.

It was the first sky scrapper in Belgrade and was built during 60s and 70s of the previous century and is amongst the most spectacular achievements of Belgrade architecture from that age. Studio B – a Belgrade TV station is located here. In time, many companies had their offices in Beogradjanka.

Architecture in Belgrade – The building was designed by architect Branko Pesic – who shouldn’t be mixed with the ex mayor of Belgrade. Belgrade architecture – the construction lasted for five years in 1969 to 1974. The building is located in the heart of the city – area connecting Slavija and Terazije and the main idea was this building to be a main city landmark.

Building is almost 100% owned by the city of Belgrade. First couple of floors are occupied by the shopping center “Belgrade” while others are filled with business offices. Earlier, at the top floor was a restaurant – which was closed in the 90s due to safety issues. Architecture of Belgrade – Being the main landmark of Belgrade with high tourist significance, there is a plan to renovate the façade as well as to reopen the restaurant on the top floor. In front of Beogradjanka is a plateau carrying the name of a famous Serbian journalist Djoka Vjestica with a fountain “Spring of Life” (srb: Vrelo Zivota).
