Belgrade airport – Airport “Nikola Tesla” (IATA code: BEG) is in Surcin, 18 km away from Belgrade. Its first “airport” Belgrade got in 1910 when a small flying field was built in Banjica and it was mostly for military use.

Next year, in 1911 a small airport was constructed in the Down town of Kalemegdan. International airport Belgrade was built in 1927 between Bezanijska kosa and left river bank of Sava. First planes of the Yugoslav air company “Aeroput” took off from this airport in 1928.
